the TV botched the first game

oh how i would LOVE to watch it on the bigscreen on the comfort of the couch with beer in the fridge instead of a crappy little cooler with half melted ice. but i don't get this channel. *shakes fist at verizon*. so i will curl up in a blanket with my cooler, and my laptop and be content, cause its Fighters time baby.

so suddenly i have decided to take up my old hobby of making my own alcohol. i stick to simple, wine and cider. grain and beer, too complicated.

the first time i ever tried to make my own, i did well, i made 3 gallons of hard cider, so i felt confident. but drinking that batch with friends led to me not paying attention to the next couple of gallon bottles fermenting. and one of them exploded (during a party) and hit the ceiling and sprayed anyone standing around in a sticky, stinky yeast mess.

so i had a shitload of grapes (ugh, my aunts and COSTCO) , and decided to start a yeast colony. my mashed grapes, added the sugar and yeast. i only got enough juice for a little over 1/3 of a gallon bottle. so tomorrow i will but some grape juice and add my little starter (that is happily bubbling away under my sink). it wont be the kind of wine i like to enjoy, but rahter the kind i just drink cause it does the job.

my cider is doing good though. if i remember clearly, it tastes like even sweeter apple-y Steel Reserve. which is funny because i used to bottle it in old 211 40 bottles.

on a plate with a bunch of other shit: Prosciutto, cold pesto and pea pasta, herbed goat cheese, chicken liver/pork pâté, bitter orange grilled shrimp and water crackers.

salads:
Bresaola with mixed greens, tomatoes, marinated mushrooms, kalmata olives and pepperoncini. lemon/caper vinaigrette.

Salami in a chopped romaine antipasto salad with goat cheese and lemon/dijon vinagrette.

for breakfast:
Capicola on a bagel with cream cheese, mixed green sprouts tossed in lemon juice and capers.

long story short, dry salty meat rules my universe.♡♡♡

i decided to spoil myself with food instead of a nice bottle of wine.
went to the fish market and got myself some some tuna. i didn't really feel like eating it the way i usually do which is a rough dice, a little kewpie and some rice. or tataki with daikon.

i felt like i wanted pasta. but i didn't want to cook such a pretty chunk of fish (i wish i had thought to take a picture of it before i started fucking with it).
rough chop - let it marinate in some ponzu, toasted seasame oil, rice vinegar, let it chill in the fridge while i cooked the linguine and made the sauce.
heavy cream, garlic, green onion, wasabi.
found some mixed greens sprouts and an avacado. and we get what you see above + green onion and black seasame.

picked up shaved steak for dinner.

the Hayashi rice i started making at 11pm last light. 4 hours on the stove simmering, until it was a chunky delicious mess. all the shaved steak i used fell apart. i like my hayashi this way rather than a thinner sauce. since i made alot i used a whole bottle of red wine. i ate a shitload, so good, and still have alot that i put in individual bags in the freezer for whenever i need my hashed beef fix.

i've read a few complaints...oh a bunch of pretty boys, Sato Takeru can't act, he was terrible in Kamen Rider Den-O, all the usual things that dudes tend to bitch about whenever hot guys get cast in movies/dramas that make girls who potentially wouldn't be interested, want to see it.
but shit, BECK is all sorts of awesome, and a hot cast makes it that much better. who cares about acting abilities when it comes to live action manga adaptations anyway.

Kiritani Kenta is sooo perfect as Chiba.

but who's going to play Maho?
somehow i can see Kitagawa Keiko or Toda Erika since i'm assuming given the ages of the actors, that they will be older in the movie than they are in the manga.

i had this big looong post typed up about Kamiji Yusuke Monogatari since i actually watched the whole thing. i had only skimmed through it a couple times when it aired in March. but that will have to wait and be backdated. there is a fairly sad part about Yusuke and his first pitcher. (oh, they trained to The Blue Hearts).

instead i will post my favorite thing. getting my Blythe's Drunk. fuck tea party, let's have a beer party. too bad you can't see, but one of those is a tiny bottle of Colt 45.

i guess it's not very known that i'm into B's.
when i was a little kid the only girly things i was into was my little pony and popples. my favorite stuffed toys were Little Foot from the land before time and my pet monster which i had two of cause my dog pissed on one and i cried about it.
i had dinosaur bed sheets and collected fossils. i was into ninja tutrtles, marvel, bucky o'hare. i loved playing baseball and soccer. catching frogs and snakes. i always had hair shorter than my shoulders and even though i have this annoying love of pink, i always have alot of bruises. basically i'm a tomboy. so it's weird that now that im grown up, i play with Blythes and dress them in very girly clothes.

i only had 1 tiny roma tomato. and i didn't feel like walking the 2 miles to the store and back so i stuck sundried tomatos with their oil, kalmata olives, roasted red bell peppers, capers, garlic, anchovie and spanish green olives in my food processor making a chunky paste, and than simmered it.
only to find i only had rigatoni, which generally i dont like these tube pastas. but it worked out well after i panfried a few shrimp in some of the oil from the sundried tomatos. i have decided that i like food processors.

i love me some jellyfish

the instant kind rules because you dont have to cut it up. i add green onion, thai red chili and furikake. it doesnt taste like anything but what you season it with. i'm just in love with the texture. its crunchy with a bite that reminds me of those cloud ear fungus which is another favorite textural food. actually after the first time i ate jellyfish i immediately thought of that kind of fungus and i learned that in japanese that fungus is called キクラゲ. or tree jellyfish.
my mom likes it, but my dad won't try it, i guess its just because its a jellyfish and he wont eat anything from the ocean unless its fried shrimp or crabcakes.

Okay, so i skimmed through jun matsumoto's new drama, Smile. i've been looking forward to it, but ohhh god. the make up on him is not a smile.
he's supposed to be half filipino, but they just made him look greasy.

i dunno, he's in prison so maybe he supposed to look unwashed there, but than they kicked into the story before his ass got locked up.

i hadn't looked at the cast list after it was announced, i only knew of MatsuJun, Aragaki Yui and Nakai Kichii. but i was pleasently suprised with:

Tokuyama Hidenori.

Oguri Shun.

i just realized all those caps are backwards, what the hell screencap device.

also Ikeuchi Hiroyuki is in it but i didn't get a screencap of him, even though hes one of the hottest dudes on earth.

its a pretty awesome cast, its kinda like 6 degrees of kevin bacon except 6 degrees of jun masumoto.

jun was in hanadan and gokusen with shun, shun was in GTO with hiroyuki ikeuchi, who was also in GTO with hidenori tokuyama, who was in HOLYLAND with yuma ishigaki, who was in hana kimi with shun and also gokusen with matsujun. okay 5 degrees. not counting all the other times. i bet the set of Smile is pretty laid back since most everyone is familiar with each other.

and the last thing: its like that scene in BAMBINO! where Sato Ryuta kicked his ass in the rain :D *smile*
